Rossini and Ricketts
John V. Sinclair, conductor • Bach Festival Choir and Orchestra
Clara Rottsolk, soprano; Amanda Crider, mezzo soprano; Jonathan Boyd, tenor; Brandon Hendrickson, bass
The 89th Annual Bach Festival concludes with an exciting pairing of a choral masterwork with an orchestral masterpiece. Rossini’s Stabat Mater, his last large and important composition, features his operatic style with sacred text.
Ted Ricketts is an innovative composer, director, and arranger. His new work for choir and orchestra, Five Songs of War and Peace, was composed specifically for the Bach Festival Choir and Orchestra and draws inspiration from the wartime writings and correspondence of writers Stephen Crane and Walt Whitman.
