RCF and Dyscalculia Network FREE Online Community Education Event - Part 1
REED Charitable Foundation is excited to partner with Rob Jennings from the Dyscalculia Network for this event. The Dyscalculia Network provides training and advice for teachers and parents of pupils who have maths difficulties. Rob has over 15 years of experience teaching young people with learning differences. Over the past ten years, he has focused specifically on helping children struggling with Maths working in both independent and state schools.
This session is titled, 'Dyscalculia and Math Difficulties' which will focus on awareness, understanding and strategies to help to overcome this learning difference. Some presentation topics include:
- Definition
- How common is it?
- Co-occurring conditions with other Special Educational needs, such Dyslexia and ADHD
- Math Anxiety
- Indicators of Dyscalculia and Maths difficulties
- Assessment
- Why is math an especially difficult subject to learn?
- Jenga effect
- Overall strategies to create a firm foundation in math
- Importance of math games in helping learning
